Rudy Gerson is a Cuban-Jewish-American interested in identity and storytelling — as a theatre maker, writer, and teaching-artist.
Currently a nomad, I recently traveled to Havana with Cuba One to trace my grandmother's Cuban-Jewish roots. I am working on a book and podcast about this journey.
I perform with Speak About It, a consent-education theatre group and is a company member of Ithaca-based Civic Ensemble. My latest project — The Darfur Compromised — had its New York City premiere at the historic Cherry Lane Theatre before I traveled with the playwright Trevor Stankiewicz to Ethiopia for a residency at Addis Ababa University in the spring of 2016.
